The short version: we collect your email address if you join the waitlist. That's it. The app stores everything on your device. GrimoireScribe never touches your writing. When you use AI features, content goes directly from your device to your chosen provider per their own terms of service.
Who we are
GrimoireScribe is an AI-native desktop writing studio currently in development, operating under a New Jersey DBA filing (trademark pending). This website is our pre-launch presence. You can reach us at hello@grimoirescribe.com.
What we collect
On this website, we collect only:
- Email address: only if you voluntarily submit it via the waitlist form.
We do not collect names, payment details, usage data, or any other personal information through this website.
Why we collect it
Your email is used solely to notify you when GrimoireScribe is ready to launch. We will not send you marketing emails, sell your address, or share it with third parties.
How we store it
Waitlist emails are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database (SQLite) hosted in Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare's data processing terms apply. We retain your email until you request removal or the product launches.
Analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not track individuals across sites. No cookie consent banner is required. Cloudflare does not sell this data. You can read more at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
The GrimoireScribe app
When the app ships, it will operate entirely on your local machine:
- Your manuscripts, characters, world notes, and settings are stored locally only. GrimoireScribe does not operate servers that receive, process, or store your writing.
- Your API keys (for Claude, GPT, Grok, etc.) are stored only on your device. GrimoireScribe never receives or handles them.
- There is no account system, no sync service, and no telemetry.
Third-party AI providers
GrimoireScribe is a local tool. When you choose to use cloud AI features, content leaves your device and travels to the provider you select. Here is what that means:
- Cloud AI writing features (Write, Edit, Chapter, etc.) send your prose and context directly from your device to your chosen provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Google, or Mistral), under your own account. That data is subject to the provider's own privacy policy and terms of service, not ours.
- Optional semantic search. If you configure a cloud embedding provider (such as Voyage AI) for advanced world-document retrieval, document text is sent directly from your device to that provider for vectorization. This is entirely optional. Keyword-based retrieval works out of the box with no cloud dependency.
- GrimoireScribe does not relay, intercept, log, or store any content sent to these providers. We are never in the data path.
Offline Mode
GrimoireScribe includes a bundled local AI model for fully offline operation. When using Offline Mode, no data leaves your machine. The knowledge system (structural index, full-text search, character tracking) and keyword-based world document retrieval are entirely local. No internet connection is required.
Support and diagnostics
The app includes a local logging system for diagnostic purposes. Logs are stored on your device and are never transmitted automatically. There is no phone-home mechanism and no telemetry.
If you contact us for support and we cannot reproduce your issue, we may ask you to voluntarily share your local logs. Log files may contain fragments of your prose, file names, or other project data. Sharing is entirely at your discretion. We will use shared logs solely for debugging your reported issue and will delete them after the issue is resolved.
All AI features are optional. All core writing, editing, and organization features work without any network connection.
Your rights
You may request removal from the waitlist at any time by emailing hello@grimoirescribe.com. We will delete your email address promptly.
If you are in the EU or UK, you have rights under GDPR/UK GDPR including the right to access, correct, or erase your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. As we are pre-launch and collect only email addresses, significant changes are unlikely.
